Ingredients

  • 1 onion finely diced
  • 4 tbsp olive oil divided
  • 3 lbs ground beef
  • 1 bunch Italian parsley chopped
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt
  • 2 jars your favorite pasta sauce

Instructions

  • Finely dice an onion and saute it in a large pot on low heat with 2 tbsp of olive oil for 30 minutes. Turn the onions every 5 minutes so that they don't burn. Let cool.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add sauteed onions, ground beef, chopped Italian parsley, panko breadcrumbs, curry powder, cinnamon and kosher salt. Mix well with your hands.
  • Roll the meat mixture into 2 inch round balls. There should be about 30 balls in total.
  • Heat remaining 2 tbsp of olive oil on medium heat. Working in batches, add meatballs to the pot and sear, turning until just brown on each side. About 5 minutes total. Repeat until all the meatballs are browned.
  • Clean out excess oil and bits from your pot. Pour in jars of tomato sauce and add back the meatballs. Bring to a low boil, cover and turn the heat to low. Allow meatballs to fully cook inside the sauce for 30 minutes.
  • *Depending on the fat content of you beef, you may find that your sauce has an excess of oil. Simply use a ladle to remove the oil into a bowl and discard.
  • Serve this delicious sauce with your favorite pasta or vegetable.
